Casstown’s After School Program  September 2018 to May 2019

Casstown After School Program

We continue our theme this School Year of Campfire Stories which features some of the Most Amazing Stories in the Bible. People like to gather around the campfire to share exciting and scary stories - but all in good fun. The Bible is filled with amazing, scary, and exciting stories that are more than just fun – they are all true and can teach us valuable lessons about God.

In February our story centers on “The Story of the Once Dead Man” John 11:17-45, “Raising Lazarus from the Dead”. When Jesus’ friend, Lazarus died, Jesus used his power to bring him back to life again. Kids will learn that God has the power to provide for all of our needs. The children will make Valentines to go in Valentine bags for people on Our Prayer Ministry.

In March our story centers on “The Story of the Vanishing Sea” Exodus 13:17-14:31, “Parting the Red Sea”. When the Egyptians were closing in on the Israelites, God parted the Red Sea so that the Israelites could pass through to safety, Kids will learn that God will come through for them in unexpected ways.

In April we will leave Campfire Stories for a month and go to Happy Easter: “The Resurrection” Matthew 27:2-28:10.  Kids will learn that the message of Easter can be found in the rainbow of colors inside a package of Skittles. The kids will learn why Jesus died and rose again. Jesus died for our sins so that he could give us new life.

This FREE program will offer a snack, stories of hope, skits, games, crafts, service projects, and more as well as an opportunity to work on homework with the help of local adults. The remaining session dates are: February 6, March 6, April 3 and May 1, 2019. If you know of any children in Grades K-6 in the Miami East School District, please invite them to join us. We would love to have them join us. Our After School Program is the first Wednesday of each month during the school year from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. They can call Diane at (937) 339-3677 or leave a message on the church answering machine at (937) 339-4828.

 FUTURE MISSION TRIP

The youth and adults that went to Red Bird Mission Camp last year had such a rewarding time that we are wondering when/where/how we might do more mission work.  So we are forming a team to include both Casstown and Bethel members to explore possibilities.  If you are interested, please let James Davidson or Kim Redick know.

In the meantime, we are going to occasionally have fundraisers to start growing the fund. Please see the flyer attached for our Dine To Donates at BW3’s on June 9th.  Hope to see you all there.  Click here for a printable copy of the flyer.

FOSTER A BAG FOR A FOSTER CHILD

Children are often removed from their homes and placed in foster care without much preparation time. SAFY of Sidney serves our area and had a representative at the chili cook-off/bazaar last fall at Casstown. The item most needed to support the children was a duffle bag for their clothing and other items. Casstown is doing an adopt a bag drive. For $12 you can “adopt” a duffle bag and a small drawstring backpack for a child.

We would also like to include a few age appropriate personal items for the children.

For younger children:

Diapers size 4, 5 or 6

Toddler toothbrush/ toothpaste

Head to toe baby wash

Comb

Small stuffed toy

For older children

Toothbrush/toothpaste

Comb

Shampoo

Liquid bath soap

Coloring book/crayons or activity book/pencil

Money for bags can go in pink envelopes and mark “foster”. Please have this in by May 19 so bags can be ordered.
